My father made black powder firearms. His workshop had a smell I will never forget. Oil, metal and freshly carved wood. Standing at his side as a child, I saw hands that knew exactly what they were doing. I watched him measure, cut, form and work the material to his will. Every movement considered. Every detail finished whether anyone would see it or not in the final object itself.
